GCSD Board Backs 18-Cage Disc Golf Course in Groveland

A new outdoor recreation opportunity set to elevate community health and connection!

GROVELAND, CA - The Groveland Community Services District (GCSD) Board of Directors has approved the creation of an 18-cage Disc Golf Course, an exciting new feature that will expand recreational opportunities and promote active, healthy living in Groveland.

This project continues GCSD’s strong partnership with Blue Zones Project Tuolumne, which has supported numerous community health and park improvement initiatives. Following successful Disc Golf installations across Tuolumne County, Blue Zones approached GCSD about bringing the sport to Groveland. Blue Zones Project is donating all equipment needed for this Disc Golf Course. With support from the Tuolumne Disc Golf Club, a free feasibility study helped identify a prime site and conceptual layout and the club will be installing the course at no charge.

The proposed course will be located adjacent to Lower Mary Laveroni Park and future Hetch Hetchy Railroad Trail. The design will be refined with input from the community and local disc golf enthusiasts.

Community Benefits:
Disc golf is one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports, offering an affordable, family-friendly way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. The course will:

  • Promote physical activity and mental well-being.
  • Provide a welcoming space for families, youth, and social events.
  • Support local schools and recreation programs.
  • Draw visitors and boost Groveland’s local economy.
